I came across this beautiful Arabic post about the value of true friends in the hereafter. I have translated it below. May Allah grant us to be true friends in this world and the hereafter. Ameen.
Indeed the inhabitants of Jannah, when they enter Jannah and do not find their companions that were on good terms with them in the worldly life. They will ask the Lord of Honour (Allah), they will say: Oh Lord, we have brothers, they used to pray with us and fast with us but we do not see them. Then Allah the most high and great will say: Go to the fire and take out whoever has an atom’s weight of Faith.
Al-Hassan Al-Basasari, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: Befriend many believing friends for indeed for them is an intercession on the Day of Resurrection.
A true friend is he who walks with you to Jannah.
Ibn Al-Jawzi, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: If you do not find me amongst you in Jannah, then ask about me and say: Oh Our Lord, your servant so and so use to remind us of you. Then he cried. May Allah have mercy upon him.
And I am asking you, if you do not find me amongst you in Jannah, then ask about me. Just maybe I reminded you about Allah even be it only once.
Oh Allah, We ask you for good companionship that will assist us to be in your obedience.
